An Earthquake Disaster Management lecture cum demo was held at the school on 9 Sep 2023.The session apprised the students and staff with the risks associated with earthquakes and effective strategies for earthquake preparedness and response. The session commenced with an overview of what earthquakes are, how they occur, and their potential impact on communities.Students were informed about earthquake hazards such as ground shaking and structural damage. The team from 340 Field Regiment,Artillery discussed the importance of preparedness, including creating emergency kits, developing family communication plans, and securing heavy objects that could become hazards during an earthquake. Practical demonstrations were conducted to teach the students and staff on how to respond during an earthquake, including the "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" technique for personal safety. They were also guided through evacuation procedures from buildings, emphasizing the importance of staying calm and using safe exit routes. An interactive question and answer session allowed the students to seek clarification and discuss specific earthquake-related concerns.The session equipped all the participants with knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of earthquake hazards and the importance of preparedness. Practical demonstrations provided hands-on experience in earthquake response techniques and evacuation drills helped participants become familiar with safe evacuation routes. It was an informative and engaging session that significantly enhanced participants' earthquake preparedness.
